As 2023 draws to a close, I would like to take a few moments to thank you for being a part of my life in retirement. I would never have imagined when I started my career that something like the Woodlands Concert Band would be in my future.

We must be doing something right. The church has never been that full for one of our concerts. I had so many people comment on how wonderful the concert was. As I was leaving the church two ladies, one in her 50's and the other her mother, were so positive and grateful for the concert. They said they had talked to another lady in the bathroom who told them that the music "touched her soul". Yes, you do make a difference, even if it is only for 90 minutes.

There will always be places in the concert that I wish we could go back and do over, but there were some truly magical moments for me, and I hope there were moments for you also. I though Silent Night in Gotham was especially remarkable. I tried some subtle things that we had never done in rehearsal and the band could not have responded better. I intentionally did not listen to the tape until today, because the reality of the recording often will change impressions. I wanted at least a few days of that special feeling. But listening to the tape, it was as good as I thought it was. Thank you all for the gifts you give to me and each other every time we get together.

Glad tidings to all. And however you celebrate the season, be it Christmas, Hanukkah, Druidry, or nothing at all, may you have peace and joy as you spend time with friends and family.
