For those interested in joining the band, we’ve put together this FAQ. Don’t hesitate to Contact Us with any questions you may have about the band.
Q. How do I find out more information about the band?
A. Please contact any member of the band leadership or a specific section leader.
Q. Who is the conductor of the Woodlands Concert Band?
A. Our Music Director and Conductor is Mr. Paul Worosello; Mr. Worosello was the Director of Bands at Klein Forest High School for 34 years before retiring in 2013.
Q. Is the Woodlands Concert Band a professional organization?
A. No. The musicians who play in the Woodlands Concert Band may be professionals in some cases, but none are paid for their participation. The band is open to professional and amateur musicians who enjoy playing in an excellent concert band that plays a varied repertoire.
Q. Is the Woodlands Concert Band open to anyone who wants to participate?
A. The Woodlands Concert Band is an adult community band; however, in order for the band to perform at a consistently high level, the musicians who play in the band must also be able to play at a certain level.
In general, participants can be of any level of skill, and should be enthusiastic and ready to learn … and practice. We strive to be as welcoming to someone returning to active playing after a hiatus as we are to professional and semiprofessional musicians. If you have concerns, contact us for more information about the level of musicianship required — or just attend one of our rehearsals, most Thursdays at 7 PM at Lone Star College Montgomery, 3200 College Park DriveConroe, TX 77384.
Musicians do not need to live in The Woodlands to play in the band. Participation is open to residents of any area. Please address all ability/age questions to Director Paul Worosello.
Q. What is the instrumentation of the band?
A. The band consists of the standard concert band instruments: woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Musicians must provide their own instruments, except for large percussion — as well as supplying their own music stand. We currently have openings in all sections, as we strive to deepen and broaden the sound and musicality of the ensemble. Please check with the section leader for your instrument to determine membership availability. There are currently waiting lists for many sections.
Q. What kind of music will the Woodlands Concert Band be playing?
A. The band will play a wide variety of music, covering the complete spectrum of concert band literature. Our concerts will be designed to provide educational and entertainment experiences to our audience, so music will be selected with the audience in mind.
